Oatmeal Chocolate Cake

From your great-great Grandma E.

Mix together and cool:
1 C. rolled oats
1 1/2 C. boiling water

Mix:
1/2 C. shortening
1 1/2 C. sugar
2 eggs
1 C. flour
1/2 C. cocoa
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
Dash vanilla

Add to the oatmeal mixture and incorporate until smooth.

Bake @ 350* for 35 minutes.

Icing:

Boil until thick: (6 mins)
1 C. powdered sugar
2 C. coconut flakes
1/2 C. milk

Pour over cake.
